Statische ladingen zijn op zich niet gevaarlijk, echter kunnen de schrikreacties van werknemers ongevallen veroorzaken en kunnen de gevolgen voor de productie wel nefast zijn. Het overdreven aantrekken van bv. stof naar geproduceerde onderdelen, kan de kwaliteit beïnvloeden of de goede werking van een machine in de weg staan.
De ontladingssystemen van HAUG zijn bedoeld voor het elimineren van elektrostatische ladingen en voor het contactloos neutraliseren van elektrostatische deeltjes op folies, glas, papier, karton, textiel en diverse andere isolerende oppervlakken.
Het ontladingssysteem bestaat doorgaans uit twee componenten: een hoogspanningsvoeding en één of meerdere ionisatiestaven.
Tegenwoordig zijn de ontladingssystemen van HAUG onmisbaar in de verpakkings-, folie-, druk- en textielindustrie en talloze andere industriële toepassingen.
