Westermo Merlin 4609 - LTE (IEC 61850-3) Router

"The Westermo Merlin 4609 is an industrial mobile router for secure and reliable data communication via 4G LTE Cat-4, specially developed for critical infrastructure, such as electrical substations, energy supply and railway applications.

The Merlin 4609 features 4 x 100 Mbit/s Ethernet ports, 2 x Gigabit SFP ports (fibre optic), 2 SIM card slots and 2 serial ports that can be configured as RS-232 or RS-485. In addition, the router has 6 digital inputs and 2 relay outputs.

As well as standard IP routing functions, the Merlin 4609 also supports industrial protocol conversion, including IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 60870-5-101, IEC 61850, Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3 and MQTT.

The Merlin 4609 also complies with the IEC 61850-3 Class 1 standard for electrical substations and the EN 50121-4 standard for railway applications.

The robust metal housing, galvanically isolated connections and the extended operating temperature range of -40 to +70 °C make the router suitable for long-term use in demanding environments.

With Westermo Activator, these routers can also be configured centrally and, via zero-touch deployment, commissioned on a large scale and updated remotely."
